An administrator’s cheat sheet

While searching for resources online, I came across a phenomenal document. The do’s and dont’s of a successful nursing home administrator.

It is hard to take on one’s first building. A lot of the tricks, technoques and successful practices have not been explored yet, but you;re still responsible for the building, the staff and the residents. It is a monumental task.

This document lists the steps one must take (and the ones you must avoid) in order to be successful.

I hope you enjoy it…

  • Thanks for the Administrator “Cheat Sheet”. We are currently in the survey window and this will be my first nursing home survey experience as an AIT. The list of items provides a useful blue print or tool for me and my Administrator/DON to rely upon. Thanks again!

    • You’re very welcome Leon.
We are all in the same boat, and it’s a shame that the industry has become so secretive and siloed.
I hope survey goes well. The new survey has proven to be pretty tough on buildings, so remain calm, and take it in stride.
Remember that providing good care comes first. We all make mistakes, and you cannot take deficiencies as a personal attack. Instead take them as a learning opportunity. Learn from them; set systems to prevent them from reoccurring, and move on.
Let me know if I can be of any assistance.
